Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 July 2026
1. Who we are
Cocoon Languages is operated by a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, trading as Cocoon Languages. This policy covers our hub site cocoonlanguages.com. Each individual language has its own site — for example cocoonfrench.com and its members’ area club.cocoonfrench.com — with its own privacy policy covering member accounts. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: hello@cocoonlanguages.com.
2. What we collect and why
- Waitlist signups — your email address, optional first name, and signup source. Used to tell you when a new Cocoon language launches. Lawful basis: consent (you can unsubscribe any time via the link in every email).
- Emails we send — a welcome email and occasional new-language announcements, sent via Resend from hello@cocoonlanguages.com. Every non-essential email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Support — if you email us, we keep the correspondence to help you. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
Member accounts and payments live on each language’s own site (for example the Cocoon French Club), governed by that site’s privacy policy. We do not run advertising or sell personal data, and we currently use no analytics tracking.
3. Where your data lives (processors)
- Supabase — database that stores the waitlist.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Vercel — website hosting.
These providers may process data outside the UK/EEA; where they do, transfers are protected by standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
4. How long we keep it
Waitlist entries: until you unsubscribe or we close the list. Support correspondence: as long as needed to resolve your query and a reasonable period afterwards.
5. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your personal data, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email hello@cocoonlanguages.com and we’ll respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
6. Cookies
We only use essential cookies. See the Cookie Policy for the full list and how to control them.
7. Children
Our services are intended for people aged 16 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from younger children; if you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
8. Changes
If we make material changes (for example, adding analytics), we’ll update this page and the date above, and where appropriate tell waitlist subscribers by email.
